Abstract

This article analyzes the principle of collegiality in Brazilian civil proceedings, particularly in light of Article 942 of the 2015 Code of Civil Procedure. It advocates for maintaining the extended trial as a mechanism for respecting dissenting opinions and deepening judicial deliberation. It analyzes a case decided by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), reported by Justice Antonio Carlos Ferreira (Resp 2,171,572/PR), in which the interpretation of the Code of Civil Procedure prevailed, defending legal certainty and procedural uniformity.
