O STJ e a valorização da advocacia na fixação dos honorários advocatícios

This article analyzes the appreciation of the legal profession in the setting of attorney’s fees by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), highlighting the work of Minister Antonio Carlos Ferreira. Initially, it presents the historical evolution of the STJ and the Court’s role in consolidating the Democratic Rule of Law. Next, it addresses the trajectory of attorney’s fees, from their origins to the current discipline in the 2015 Code of Civil Procedure and the recent changes brought about by Law No. 14,365/2022. The text highlights the Minister’s firm position in defending the fair remuneration of lawyers, applying the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association) Table and reaffirming the alimentary nature of attorney’s fees. Finally, it praises the Minister’s humanist profile and respect for the legal profession, emphasizing his contribution to the strengthening of Justice and citizenship.
