Abstract

This article aims to introduce a discussion on what ethics is. It begins with a debate about what ethics is not; then, it proposes a preliminary definition of the concept; further, it discusses its importance in social life; lastly, it argues that objectivity in ethical deliberation is possible, as long as the analitically inherent tenets to this social practice are met.
