This article examines the legislative advances on filiation in Bill n. 4/2025, which proposes to reform and update the Civil Code, focusing on conflict prevention and reducing litigation. The author highlights the historical evolution of filiation protection, the consolidation of socio affective paternity and multi-parenthood in case law, and the incorporation of these concepts into the legislative text. The bill also provides for the regulation of filiation resulting from assisted human reproduction, ensuring equality among all children and expanding legal certainty. It also proposes mechanisms to facilitate the voluntary acknowledgment of paternity, with a reversal of the burden of proof in cases of denial. The study reinforces the role of affection and equality as foundations of contemporary Family Law, drawing inspiration from the work of Justice Antonio Carlos Ferreira.
